I feel like this style of work is not appealing to others, but I can't help it. I love working this way so much. The feeling of spontaneously blocking in paint like an oil painting and using translucency, the background value and stroke pressure to create the depth rather than painting values over and over to get the modeling right. Masks and ten thousand layers are cool, but sometimes all those layers really slow you down (and your machine). I do love layers though and they are probably the greatest advantage of digital over traditional.
